3 HVAC Horror Stories & How to Avoid Them

It’s Halloween season! While most people look forward to sharing treats (or tricks) at this time of year, we here at Perfect Degree HVAC like to get into the spirit of things by sharing some true-to-life HVAC horror stories. In our many years being the go-to HVAC contractors in Philadelphia’s western suburbs, we’ve definitely had our share of bone-tingling, nightmare-inducing HVAC-related incidents that are sure to keep you up at night.

1. Scary noises. If you hear strange noises coming from your HVAC system, you might think that there’s a ghost living in your air conditioner. Unfortunately for you, it’s probably something much worse. Noises coming from your air conditioner can indicate anything from loose parts to a rodent infestation. If this doesn’t scare you, you might change your tune once you get your electricity or repair bill.

2. Creepy crawlies. A huge part of keeping your air conditioning system in good working order is to have your ductwork cleaned periodically. Dust buildup due to poor duct maintenance can turn your home into a breeding ground for pests such as dust mites. These nasty little ticks, while not known to bite humans, can contribute to all sorts of illnesses, including severe allergies and other respiratory issues.

3. Shocking electricity bills. In the United States, it’s estimated that almost 50 percent of a home’s energy costs can be attributed to the HVAC system. If you neglect proper maintenance or ignore signs telling you that your system is in need of repairs, then you could be confronted with a utility bill that may cause you to faint.

From heating repair to full-on commercial HVAC installation and everything in between, when it comes to all things HVAC-related, you can trust the experts at Perfect Degree HVAC to exceed even your wildest expectations.
